Welcome! Welcome!! Welcome!!! The familiar Start Menu is back in Windows 10

The return of Windows start menu brings with it a new customizable space for your favorite apps and Live Tiles

Statistics revealed that over 1.5 billion people from different countries make use of Windows which has really enhanced our daily activities.

Windows 10 would empower people and organisations to do great things because it was built for a mobile-first, cloud-first world. We were encouraged to signup for the Windows Insider Program in order to download & enjoy the technical preview and share our thought about this product.

Simple way to retrieve system serial number via Windows Command Prompt (CMD)

The below command line can be applied to recover computer's serial number;

Load Windows 7 command prompt then type;

wmic bios get serialnumber


iWeb: Your browser understands the "APPLET" tag but isn't running the applet for some reasons

Please be aware that this error may occur while trying to spool report from iWeb App if the required version of java is not running on user's terminal; "Your browser is completely ignoring the "APPLET" tag!

Resolution:
  • Make sure you launch iWeb using 32-bit version of Internet Explorer
  • Install either of the below listed java versions:
  1. Java 6 update 30 (32-bit)
  2. Java 7 update 51 (32-bit)
  3. Java 7 update 67 (32-bit)

The User Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

My customer encountered the above error flag while trying to logon to a particular Windows 7 workstation this morning. Investigation shows that some other users can logon successfully while she couldn't logon. Futher examinations on Windows 7 registry revealed that show that user's profile has been damaged with (.bak) extension.

Resolution:

  • Logon using local Administrator credential
  • Locate and open "Users" directory path
  • Rename affected user profile
  • Load Windows 7 registry editor(regedit.exe)
  • Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
  • Right-click on ProfileList folder(Key) then click Find
  • Type affected username and click on "Find Next" command button
  • Right Click then delete the affected user key

Restart the terminal and ask the user to logon again.

" Can't create file: file.zip. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder."

Hello all, my customer had this problem while trying to open an attachment with .zip on her MS outlook 2010 inbox; At the course of troubleshooting, it was found that there are plenty clogged files with the same namein user's "Content.Outlook" path.

Resolution steps:

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator
  • Type regedit then press Enter
  •  Locate Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security then double-click on "OutlookSecureTempFolder"
  • Copy the contents in the value data: then paste on RUN
  • Delete all files in that path then close and relaunch MS Outlook 2010

"The remote session was disconnected because there are no Terminal Server License Servers available to provide a license." Please Contact the server administrator.

Sucks!! My customer encountered this issue while trying to launch published apps(e.g.IFS, SingleView, etc) via citrix after resumption from her annual leave.

Investigation shows that the MSLicensing path in her Windows 7 worksation is corrupted and should be corrected;

Resolution:
  1. Run Command Prompt as an Administrator
  2. Type regedit then press Enter
  3. Backup registry incase of unforseen circumstance
  4. Locate Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing
  5. Right Click MSLicensing folder then select delete command
  6. Confirm Delete and restarted customer's workstation
Launch application(s) again

As we all know that Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC) is an exciting opportunity for students to experience online marketing and creating online marketing using Good AdWords and Google+.

The Vice-Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola Universty of Technology(LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Professor Adeniyi Gbadegesin, commended the institution's team which won the 2014 Google Online Marketing Challenge for Middle East and Africa.
He implored students of the institution to remain good ambassadors of the university while he said the team would soon leave the country to visit Google office for workshop at Dublin and Ireland.
